James studied Civil Engineering at the University of Central Florida, earning a 3.82 GPA with a minor in Business Administration. In 1998, he founded Consumer Credit Services, Inc., growing the firm into one of Florida’s top 5% mortgage lenders with over 55 employees. By 2003, the company advanced to a correspondent lender fully accredited by the Veterans Administration and Federal Housing Administration.

From 2008–2011, James led foreclosure-prevention efforts that helped save approximately 200 homes per month. In 2013, he restructured the business as Consumer Credit Services, LLC, operating under the DBAs EquiFund Mortgage® and GoRealo®, with a focus on delivering below-market mortgage rates through automation and efficiency.

In 2024 and 2025, respectively, secured federal trademarks for EquiFund Mortgage® and GoRealo®. Today, he continues to lead innovation by developing an end-to-end mortgage point-of-sale platform that simplifies loan shopping and reduces costs for consumers.
